Become a Member

The Future of Digital Currency Initiative is an Industrial Affiliates Program at Stanford. We are funded by our members, to whom we are grateful for their support. Their membership fees ensure the program can fund its faculty and student research. Our memberships come in three tiers and offer certain benefits:

Tier 3: Full Membership

$250,000/year
Invitation to send one (1) Visiting Scholar to Stanford per academic calendar year. For additional information please see the Visiting Scholar Policy.
One nomination to the FDCI Advisory Board.
Opportunity to provide input into select FDCI Pilot projects related to digital currency.
Opportunity to obtain visibility at the annual conference event organized by Stanford FDCI.
Engagement with students and researchers.
Participation in ongoing webinars focused on digital currency topics.
Regular briefings on regulatory and technical developments from FDCI staff, researchers, and experts.
Discounted employee enrollments in select professional and technical courses from the Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education.

Tier 2: Transition Membership

$100,000/year (One year maximum. For second year of membership for Start-up Companies)
Invitation to send one (1) Visiting Scholar to Stanford per academic calendar year. For additional information please see the Visiting Scholar Policy.
Opportunity to provide input into select FDCI Pilot projects related to digital currency.
Opportunity to obtain visibility at the FDCI conference event organized by Stanford FDCI.
Engagement with students and researchers.
Participation in ongoing webinars focused on digital currency topics.
Regular briefings on regulatory and technical developments from FDCI staff, researchers, and experts.
Discounted employee enrollments in select professional and technical courses from the Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education.

Tier 1: Start-up Company Membership

$75,000/year (One year maximum. For companies in their first 2 stages of equity financing or their first 2 years of business)
Invitation to send one (1) Visiting Scholar to Stanford per academic calendar year. For additional information please see the Visiting Scholar Policy.
Opportunity to provide input into select FDCI Pilot projects related to digital currency.
Opportunity to obtain visibility at the FDCI conference event organized by Stanford FDCI.
Engagement with students and researchers.
Participation in ongoing webinars focused on digital currency topics.
Regular briefings on regulatory and technical developments from FDCI staff, researchers, and experts.
Discounted employee enrollments in select professional and technical courses from the Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education.

Open Source IP

The Future of Digital Currency Initiative will use and develop open-source software, and it is the intention of Future of Digital Currency Initiative that any software will be released under an open source model.

Additional Program Funding

Affiliate Program members may provide additional funding. All research results arising from the use of the additional funding will be shared with all program members and the general public. Affiliate Program members may request the additional funding be used to support a particular area of program research identified on the program’s website, or the program research of a named faculty member, as long as the faculty is identified on the program website as participating in the Affiliate Program. In either instance, the director of the Affiliate Program will determine how the additional funding will be used in the program’s research.
